Help With Base Map.

Recommended Posts

madspikes

My supercharged pug is up and running but I need some help with improving the base map. Yes Yes Yes I know I should really rolling road it but, at the moment I dont have the funds! I think my current base map is s*ite, it was developed when I had some ignition timing, now these are fixed I really need a new map.

I've come up with this map, which is a mixture my old map and a map someone recently posted on here (cant remember who) the down side it was for a Mi16...

I'd like some pointers before I run it in the car. The closer I can make the base map, the easier it will be tune. This will only be my new starting point, not the finished item.

I'd only have 10 deg at idle. If 100% means 0kPa (no boost), then 30 deg. is too much at 2000 and upwards. Reduce to 26 degrees. In the 90%, increase to 27 deg., then 28 deg. in the 80% range. I would have thought that anything over 30 deg. is way too much for 80% load. On the boost side, you're correct in retarding but I'm not sure it needs to be that radical. Obviously depends on static CR and cams, but I'd leave it as is until you dyno it.

Where does it cruise at 80-100 km/h? These cells need to be 34-35 deg. max., then decreasing from there as load increases.

Thanks for the reply - My car is a supercharged 8v with standard cams.

So after a little poking I ran with this today. Off idle is great, so much more drivable - that was a major issue for me. The car is slightly slugish up to around 3.5k at full throttle then it takes off like cat with my foot up its arse up to around 5k. 4k to 5k happens so quickly!

After your comments and how the car behaved today I came up with this.. I shall run with this tomorrow.

The car seems to like more advance at idle...

55mph is around 2000rpm (I think) in my car, due to the drev gearbox..

This may well be true. Have you verified that 10 deg. in software equals 10 deg. mechanically with a timing light?

where is it idling? about 40kpa?

wanting more than 10deg at idle suggests you dont have enough static throttle opening or air bypass depending which you are using. you do need to check the accuracy of the timing numbers though as peter says above.
