Garage In North East

Recommended Posts

Hello

I've been a member for a little while getting info for a conversion form 1.6 to Gti-6

Due to not a lot of time on my hands to finish the car off about 4 weeks ago I spoke to a well known conversion garage and agreed price for the car to be done, however the price 2 days ago just as I was about to take my car to them jumped 55% so this has put me off even though they thought it was easier conversion and more room than 205Gti ( my car is Citroen Visa Gti 1.6, basically same front end as 205 )

Anyway I can get the engine in myself and fitted with most of the mechanicals done but I haven't got a clue about wiring so wondered if anyone knew anyone in the North East area that would be able to do this?

Any suggestions greatly received

I'm sure there's a guy advertising on ebay who's currently breaking cars in Whitley Bay and also carry's out these conversions.

I'll have a look and see if I can find his username and post in on here for you.

It's been years since I've seen a Visa GTI. I fancied one years ago.

Cheers

I've spoken to chap RickyD suggested and as I normally do my mind has changed like the wind so parted my Gti6 engine for 1.9 and I'm going to get it tuned a bit.

First aim is to get the car on the road for the first time in about 20 years, I believe it was only used for 5 years before being stood in a garage, I bought it about 5 years ago. I'm led to believe only 3 are still on the road with MOT, DVLA show 50 with MOT, sorn etc. Only 12 or so are known to Citroen club, I have 3

Plan is fit 1.9 instead of 1.6

I've been advised Maniflow Manifold, I've not been involved and messed with cars for a decade or so and have never heard of this make but trusting advice

Custom straight through middle section to Group N back box

Gaz coilovers std off the shelf for front but rears have to be made as unlike 205 Visa has struts and springs, same rear as Talbot Samba Rallye

For this year std brakes but next looking at maybe 306 D Turbo?? want to keep to 14" alloys as not much room at the rear to fit larger

Keeping the car stripped out for now as well, possible track or hill climb days next year

Not going too mad with it, keeping the body the same

This is car a couple of years ago

This is it waiting for engine

Not everyones cup o tea but I like it because it's very odd ball

It was worth a phone call and I'm glad you've made a good choice of engine. I love the looks of the Visa and I can remember them as a teen. I'm in my mid 30's now, hence picking a 205 GTI 1.9 for a bit of fun.

I look forward to your build thread.

Cheers

Miles

Odd choice of a 1.9 8v engine over the GTi6 which would be far better or even a Mi16 engine, but having done the 8v on my CTi which the only reason I did this was to keep it looking all original using the same block etc

I'd leave the Maniflow manifold and either use a std one or Magnex (Stainless steel)
