Anyway Of Finding Out If A Car Has A Valid Mot?

Recommended Posts

Miles

As title, I need to find out if a car I have is MOT'd, The owner is traveling and has left it with me to use if I want,

I have looked at the Mot.gov site but you need the V5 number and all I have is the Reg number and I can;t find anything else, Anybody have any idea's?

Any mot test centre can do this but if the vehicle was tested at another station you will need the v5 number in order to find out.

Edit.

Miles, you can do it here for future reference but you will need the v5 number.

Ask the owner, perhaps? Or have they already gone travelling without leaving any mobile or email contact details.

Could you try and insure it? Not sure but I thought they did a look up to see it had a valid MOT

Failing that get nicked for speeding in it

You can insure any car without MOT or Tax, you can't Tax a car without MOT or insurance. I'm fairly sure the only way is to go to a MOT station, I did it for my XS and it was £10 to get a replacment, more I think if its not the original station.......or how the tester is feeling

Insurance makes no odds to me, I just add it on the MID (Trade cover) but thankfully I found it hidden away in the car :D
