Blanking Loom Hole And Final Mods Before Engine Fitting

Recommended Posts

dave205

Im alsmost ready to sit my freshly rebuilt turbo engine on its mounts, but need to finish a few things off before hand and i need a few pointers.

What's the best thing to blank the wiring loom hole up on the drivers side of the bulkhead?

What if any heat protection should i use on the fuel lines, bulkhead etc etc.

Do i need to run the heat shielding that comes up on to the bulkhead to protect from the exhaust or does it get in the way?

What mods are needed to the gear linkages, as they'l be a pain to get to when the engines in!

Once all these are done, the engine can be shown its new home!!

sorry to jump in but im sort of in the middle of doing this in my bay.

where did you get the self adheisive stuff on the bulkhead?

i need some as i have to ditch my std heat shield due to gti6 manifold being too close.

i assume it would sufficent to use in the exhaust tunnel too?

I used the hole to take some loom through, using conduit glands.

You could just use a circular bit of plate to achieve the same thing with no loom going through.

I have a roll of it it is not self adesive I used some of this (http://www.demon-twe...ve/1250/0/16314) to bond it and sealed the edges with this http://www.screwfix....2mm-x-45m/50629. If you want me to cut you a piece of the roll your welcome to some. Could just do with a couple £ to post it. same as this stuff http://www.demon-twe...Cloth/1471/6773 I used this stuff for my fuel hoses. http://www.demon-twe...leeve/1471/6767

You can use the plastic blank on a non gti model 205. I would cover it in foil tape or something as it can melt :(
