Injectors Firing As Cranking Stops

Recommended Posts

Pugs in Pieces

went to fire up the cti today and nothing, has had an engine chnage recently but was running fine, got spark, got fuel to rail but not at injectors, well as i crank the engine no fuel is released from the injectors, as i release the key from cranking position to second ignition the injectors fire fuel out. whats causing this? bad earth somewhere??? thanks

to enhance on this, it would seem no power to the injectors, phase1 wiring loom, have traced all wires and cleaned earths, cant find any issues, changed dizzy, which after it tried to fire but only once, changed ecu, afm, tps, tachy relay, ecu sender, plugs, leads, cap arm, ig module, coil, even swapped the wiring for another phase 1 from the coil etc, still ntohing, just cannot get fuel out of the injectors, no pulse when tested on a multimeter.

any ideas as its driving me mad, had 3 of us on it this afternoon but still nothing, we are baffled.

I know this might sound daft but it might be a faulty starter motor, If it's drawing too much current when cranking the injectors might not get enough current to fire, when you stop the starter turning with

the key the injectors work so it could be this even though the starter seems to be working ok, try bumping the car. :(

The crank sensor as such is in the distributor on the 8v engines.

igntion barrel fault. seen it before but not on a peugeot. try wiggling the key in the barrel as you crank it.

someone else mentioned this, had the problem on an old xs, after studying the haynes manual it would appear there is a common earth for the afm, sad, ecu, cold start sensor, tachy relay and battery. ill be trying to find this and checking that first.

well im close to killing it! have traced all wiring back to dash, no problems, wiring back through igniton side, no problems, changed fuel rail, changed ignition barrel, changed fuel pump, nothing makes a difference, even with everything disconnected, just the ecu and injectors connected, they still fire fuel as i let off the key. christ knows what to do.

forgot to say, have 12v feed at injectors when cranking over, from both wires into each injector, have tried other injectors etc, i assumed it would have been something packing up but i have changed everything now. if we disconnect starter, afm, sad, tps, tachy relay and ecu sensor so just injectorsand ecu connected it does exactly the same thing as when everything is connected, hence why i assume the probelm is wiring related. im so lost

It doesn't sound daft to me, I've seen starters interfere with engine management twice but both times it was Mi16 engines. I suspect the starter generates a lot of electrical noise as opposed to drawing too much current but the only way to be sure is to use an oscilloscope. http://forum.205gtidrivers.com/index.php?showtopic=123111

daft, but have you tried another battery?

batterys when drained or dying can do some weird things.

Check the lead from the dizzy to the loom, where it goes into the dizzy - often fray here- esp on clip on cap dizzys

Can you see the Earthing pulses on the injectors? (will need a portable scope to do it...)

sorted now, first thought of bad earth was correct, just where it was, drivers side headlight earth was the culprit, cleaned that up and the connections and it fired straight into life. many thanks tho people.
