going to rebuilding a 1.9 8 valve soon and was wondering if anyone has got a suggestion for places to source the gasket kits, liner seals etc?

or is it a case of just going to local factors?

It's in various Peugeot/Citroen models, but if you look under early 406's you'll find it (XU7JP4)

the part number above has been superseeded by 0112a7 which is a set of 4 liner seals at a cost of about a fiver.

another quick question before i go to local supplier tomorrow.

i am going to be getting new standard size main and big end shells but just want an idea of a reasonable price before i buy them as they are sometimes quite expensive for items not "off the shelf"

I think I paid about £25 for big ends from Peugeot, they were from an XU10J4R engine :)

A local supplier quoted nearer £40

XU10J4RS ones would have been nearer £80 IIRC!

I just had a look, and a set of 8 big ends for a 1.9 8 valve in standard size are £40+ vat from a main dealer, I;d be inclined to get the crank checked than order them.

Oversize are £74+vat.

Mains are £75+vat, thrust bearings in std size £9 a pair, two needed.

although if you know specifically which size mains you need, it will end up cheaper getting them all separately.

top are all one size at £4.79+vat, then there's 4 lower sizes dependent on clearance, price range from £3.35 to £5.13, 5 top and 5 bottom required.

all sorted now standard size were needed.

could not get the prices WP found pug quoted £74 for mains and £41 for big end plus vat

local suppliers were £79 and £62 plus vat, local engine shop were £55 and £45 plus vat.

but i remembered a place we used for head repairs when i worked for vauxhall got the mains for £36 and big ends for £27 so a big thank you to halesowen engines.
