Rear Antiroll Bar

Recommended Posts

geokat1975

Hi

i have a rear beam from 1.4TU

i have installed rear torsion bars from partner (21.3mm)

reara antiroll bar is 16mm.

what is the best size for antiroll bar for road use most?

i am thinking to fit 19mm or 20mm.

24mm like 306gti6 would be too much?

(koni sport dampers with eibach 30mm springs and 22mm front anti roll bar)

i forgot to mention that my car is 309 with TU 1.6 8v.the engine is from 106 rallye

106 GTI's have 24mm on them as standard so I don't think it will be too bad atall

i'm afraid that the car will oversteer too much with the 24mm anti roll bar.

rear allignment has -1.1 negative camber and 0.4mm toe in.

does anybody knows how much difference will make 24mm bar over 20mm or 19mm ?

Lots of people fit 24mm ARB with the partner 21.3mm TBs and say it's a good setup. It's what I'll be doing to my 309 beam when I get round to building it!

i'm pretty sure that 24mm ARB with the partner 21.3mm TBs is a good setup for track day.

i just wonder if it is good for (fast) road use.

with 21.3 TBs rear axle is very stable now,

do you think that with 24mm arb will become too much oversteery?

the car now is quite neutral i'd say...

does anybody knows what difference the big arb will make?

when the road is wet things will be better or worse with 24mm arb?

106's and saxo's aren't excessively oversteery and they are VERY similar in weight wheelbase and track, NARROWER at the rear than a 205 infact, so a 24mm ARB shouldnt be a problem on the road IMO.

whats the front spring rate? also where does the 22mm front bar come from? I thought the max standard bar was a 21mm 309 item?

22mm bar is from a Saxo VTR and 24mm's come from a 106 GTI and Saxo VTS

The thread is about rear bars, where does an XU subframe come in to it?

dont read my post then :P

the thread is actually about whether he would suffer from oversteer with a 24mm rear bar. For this knowing the front spring rate would help. I also then enquired about the front arb size and I thought your response was telling me it cam from a VTR. His engine is a TU so I am assuming a TU subframe.

it is a TU engine frame.

this frame comes with 3 different sizes bars, 20, 22 or 23mm front antiroll bar.

front springs rate is 275lbs/in
