Running Lumpy

Recommended Posts

Last week or so, under low revs, felt the engine 'missing' and holding back. Decided today to replace leads, plugs, dizzy cap and rotor arm.

Wow! What a difference that makes! More responsive, purrs on tickover, and no more lumpiness!

:)

Will post a pic up of the dizzy cap and the corroded centre terminal and 'smutting' on the inside. Was definitely overdue for replacement! I love working on this car!

Happy days.

It was more at low revs but you could feel the engine holding back throughout the rev range. When, say in 5th gear, you drop to low revs then accelerate, it was more evident then.

But now, perfect throughout. Plugs, leads, dizzy cap and rotor arm, and a rear windscreen wiper all for the tidy sum of £60..... And piece of cake to change them all out. B)

This could be the same problem my old man had recently, his would hold back at 3500 but then just revved out after pumping the throttle. He changed all the normal things but it ended up being the fuel regulator on the end of the rail (if thats what its called?).
