Problem Under Load.

Recommended Posts

Right guys , having some running problems with the mi now. was running fine untill last week, its now developed a problem when i put the engine under load and take it up over 3ooorpm. its gets to the 3000rpm mark then its like it stops getting fuel and jumps back down under the 3000 . if i have it in 5th gear and drop it to say 3rd it will rev hard no problem and go straight to 4-5th without juddering. it seems to be fouling plugs as i sometimes have to take them out and clean them for the car to start. i have changed the plugs , fuel pump. but i am having to run a fuel cut off switch just now as there is a ignition fault with the fuel pump. could this be a cause of the plugs oiling up maybe its overfueling ? . im going through alot of petrol at the moment. HELP ME LOL.

Might be worth trying a replacement ignition amp - these can give a rev-limit like misfire when they start to die, but will often strangely pull fine if you drop a gear or two.

Assuming it's a 1.9 Mi16 that you're talking about, they're the same as 8v ones, and commonly and cheaply available used.

They're not too expensive new, but non-Bosch ones are very hit and miss in my experience and I'd always rather run a used-Bosch than a new pattern item.

it cost me 40 for a none boosh ignition amp! and my 1.9 8v starting idling at 1,500RPM - 2,000RPM wouldnt idle at 1,000 RPM everytime i turned it down on the idle control valve it would suddenly drop and cut out, i ended up going and getting a new ignition amp from a 205 breaker soon as i put it on it idled at 1,000RPM without any adjusting.

You can buy them directly from the boosh website you just need the correct part no.

Another one with a new £40 non-Bosch amplifier that turned out to be a dud.

Took me a week to figure that one out and it will be going back to the factors tomorrow.

Grr....
