Ooh you were saying at the weekend they had filled in the holes. This is what it was like last time I was there with Chris (309Pug)

Looks alright, pretty narrow though! Bet theres still loads of s*it kicking up on the circuit if they rent it out the the rallycross and rally crowd.

Wonder if they'd let you use part of the rallycross circuit if you rented it? Looks much more fun!

Tarmac the whole runway! It seems 2 car widths wide like a sprint circuit. I suppose it is probably as wide as Cadwell. Llandow is wider. I wonder what events they will run there apart from the Rallycross?

It does look narrow indeed.

I love the drifts and the M3 sounds amazing!

Harewood is narrower than that!

I'd certainly give it a try, maybe it would be used as a sprint trackday type venue, e,g, 1 car out at 30 sec intervals rather than 25 cars out at once?

Having been to Blyton before its a windy desolate place though, mind you only the same as the majority of ex-airfield venues.

Looks quite good, I've also been to Blyton before a few times & if I'm not mistaken they are going round it backwards to how it was run when I was there.

I'd give it a try just to see what it's like, anything would be an improvement over the badly repaired holes which used to be there, but as Tom says though, it's a fairly barren location so take clothng suitable for the worst if you go to spectate.

They never used to let many cars out at one time iirc but 25 on that would be pretty horrendous.

Graham.

Well a bit later than promised, here is some video. (hope this works)

The story of my evening was to get there, get the sighting laps over with, then do an introductory 5 or 6 quick laps, back into the pits to discover my (well used) slicks had called it a day and were on the wires. I only had a set of 5 year old back up Toyo road tyres so they had to go on. The car setup certainly doesn't suit them and it was frustrating to say the least as grip levels to turn in, brake, accelerate were less than half of what they were before, to the point that the thing was lighting up the fronts changing into 3rd. However although this could have ruined the evening I made the best of it and was still lapping at a reasonable pace.

In summary, I'll certainly be going back, only 45min from my house towing the trailer, the evening session we did was good value in my eyes, only 18 cars there so not busy out on track, and going to work early meant I could do my 8 hours and get the track evening in as well.

Although it seems narrow in fact its plenty wide enough in most places, also lots and lots of run off so very little chance of hitting anything solid.

Its also a challenging lap, lots of tricky corners, especially "The Ump" which is a tightening left hander, through an awkward chicane, into a sweeping right, and also "Bunga Bunga" which is the very late apex right hander before the sweeping right/left. In fairness to the circuit designers, aside from elevation changes which they could do little to alter, there is a good mix, slow corners, mid speed, late apex, high speed, even a couple of straights.

(Edit-- can anyone tell me how to embed the video on here? Tried many ways and all failed...)

Your car sounded good Tom, what engine is in that one? Gti6?

still looks quite thin but what is its primary role? Its not going to be the next Brands Hatch with that width but looks excellent for sprints and time trials. On trackdays would they limit the people out on it so its not too crowded?

Yeah, bit anymore though now its been fully redesigned & resurfaced, it's much better.

Sounds good Tom, shame about the tyres though but at least you got decent weather etc.

Might have to plan a test visit once my car is back together, not much (if any) closer than Cadwell from me though. :(

Not sure how to embed the video, last time I managed it (soon after the upgrade) I just posted the url & it did it automatically so maybe cynbernck has changed something in the settings?

Graham.
