Arb Upgrade

I know there's an old thread about this but couldn't find an end result of it actually working and being drivable and not wrecking the splines..

So can a 106/saxo ARB fit on a 205 with 306 endplates?

Thanks.

Yes, although due to the difference in width it only has about half of the splines in the ARB endplates.

Providing that you do it evenly on both sides it seems to subjectively last fairly well, but can fail quickly if you end up with the ARB further over to one side than the other.

Is it an ideal solution? No. Is it a cheap solution compared to the cost of obtaining an uprated ARB in 205 width? Yes.

Thanks :) just what I was after

to make sure they're even would it work if you fitted the ARB with plates bolted in, then wind in a bolt where the rubber torx usually sits at each end plate, then turn them in half a turn at a time till they'r even? If that makes any sense...

I'd fit a spacer between the left hand fixed end of the ARB and have a Bolt secure that side in place, then fit the other side as normal.

Not tried this in anger yet so can't say whether a bolt would be needed on the RHS, but using one long enough to bottom out in the thread and trimming its length down once the Clearance on the seals has been set could work if one was req.

Cheers for the help

So for a 24mm ARB I need to look for 106 gti

Would even a 22mm be a decent enough upgrade over my 205 gti ARB?

I am trying to find one too, are there any other models which have a suitable bar?

The 106 GTI one being the same as the Saxo VTS item, correct?

Shouldn't be too hard to modify the plates so you have full spline engagement tbh.

How would that be done?

Been offered a 22mm ARB from 106 for 25 posted, is that a fair price?

I've been running this setup for over a year now and it works well, an 8v headbolt spacer fits perfectly in the end of the end plate and helps space out the arb. Just make sure the 306 endplates are a nice snug fit, as i had a few that were worn and didnt last long before it started clonking, otherwise no issues atall.
