There's a heat shield on the rack that's held on by 2 or 3 of them.

Oh right i never knew the rack had some sort of heat shield. Mine did not have one and thee was only this bracket on the rack.

 

Does anyone have a picture of the heatshield, i'd like to try and get one or one similar for my project ?

I dont know all i know is i took this off the steering rack near the drive area.

Looks the same, but the resistor clips are about half the size and wouldn't fit round the rack.

I've got the one I pulled off a GTI-6 rack somewhere. I used it as a sacrificial anode for electrolytic cleaning though, so it's covered in rust now though. I'll try and get a photo later.

Its not much of one is it, its very small. I expected something to go along the rack or something.

This is the one I had. Not sure if the GTI-6 one is different, or if it's just the angle James took the pic from.

 

 

 

It's about 25cm from left to right, and 12cm top to bottom not counting the tab sticking out. It doesn't cover the whole rack, just the bit right near the exhaust.
