1.9 8 Valve Running Issue

Recommended Posts

smithy

Bit of background info first the 1.9 has been previously fitted but the people who swapped it left the 1.6 ecu, dizzy and AFM.

I have since fitted 1.9 items and a new vac capsule.

Sad cleaned and tested, all pipes are ok,new coolant temp sensor.

The engine starts up goes to about 2000 rpm like it should when cold and SAD is open but it only stays there for 5-10 seconds,it then just cuts out.

I have done the TPS and throttle flap set up,tried adjusting mixture, idle speed and timing but nothing changes.

Anyone got any ideas what to try next?

Checked for air leaks?

Does it keep running if you keep your foot on the throttle and the revs up, or does it cut out and die nevertheless?

Had a check for air leaks and all fine, held throttle open and gave everything a spray with carb cleaner no change in revs.

If I hold the revs on it will stay running but as soon as foot off it drops down splutters and cuts out, even with idle screw on max.

I am beginning to suspect the AFM,just not 100% as it did same with the 1.6 one that's why I checked numbers and changed for the 1.9.

Bought it off a member on here who reckoned it was a good one,but I do not have another to try it.

Weak fuel pump?

Sounds similar to a problem I had on my 306. It was pumping fuel, but not nearly enough to let it rev.

Is there a bolt in the hole that holds the oil filler to the inlet? This is hollow and causes issues.

i think fuel pressure is ok although not measured it,the engine will run and rev up fine it just will not idle without keeping accelerator depressed slightly.

yes the filler neck is bolted to the manifold as it should be.
