Prize to Mr Fenton - froze in the depths of winter 2010 and only just got around to removing it . All but the block and head casings may well get re-used as engines don't seem too plentiful these days.

Did a good job on that! I've seen the blocks crack before, but never seen a head go like that even when they've frozen due to no anti-freeze.

Begs the question "what are the core plugs for?" as they seem to be pretty well strapped in by the manifold (Magnex 4-branch in this case). I will take the head off and have a look from the inside as it's a "worked" head and a lot of metal has been removed from the inlet ports so will be interesting to see if it's been weakened at the rear. Car was last on the road Sept '09 and didn't notice the damage until May / June 2010. Thought it was empty of coolant but was obviously wrong!!!

Looks nasty!

Is it a 1600 or 1900?

I have 2 complete 1600 engines and a 1900 in bits (missing 3 liners I think) but they are 87 and 88 motors. If your interested?

Thanks for the offer, but the replacement went in yesterday :) It was a 1.9 that cracked and a 1.6 has gone in - I have a few 1.6s in various states as spares, so may build the 1.9 into one of those blocks ( or more likely leave it lying around useless for an eternity until I get around to it)

Replacement engine! should all be finished today with any luck. O/T You're from Camborne? There's some talk about a local meet in the future if you're interested? What Pug do you drive? may well have seen it locally.
