Where To Buy New Turbo From?

Recommended Posts

grantley1988

Hi all,

I have just bought a fully rebuilt turbo engine with wossner pistons, catcam turbo cam etc etc...... Im looking at buying a new t28 turbo to fit my turbo techinics manifold but am a little confused at some of the prices on the bay.

Here is a link to what i have been looking at. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/T25-T28-TB28-NEW-UNIVERSAL-TURBO-TURBOCHARGER-CHARGER-/120526274472?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item1c0fecffa8 Will this be good for what i am looking for?

Can you tell me why this is a cheaper?

Also i have been looking at gt28 turbos. I have had a little research on them and they seem better but are they overkill for what i am looking for? Im expecting 250bhp with emerald management.

What are the benefits of a ball bearing turbo and are they much harder to fit with the extra plumbing?

As you may have guessed i'm abit of a novice on this stuff, so any help would be great!!

Two top links are chinese copy turbos. Notice neither say "GARRETT" on them.

I;d goto a proper supplier with a Warranty, What if it fails with a Ebay one as I doubt you'll be able to send it back. Speak to Turbo Dynamics or someone like that and they will give you advice and support

I'd also go with someone who is an established UK outlet so you have some redress if things go wrong.

I know it's not local for you, but this guy is the guru: http://www.gtpumps.com.au

Amongst other things he was one of the founders of Haltech way back in 1989 and has worked for F1 Teams. You'll also notice his website looks like M&W Ignitions. That's because he's half of that as well.

Don't forget the oil restrictor if you fit an GT series turbo; they can't handle the oil pressure of an XU.

To fit an T28, you need to modify you bulkhead...

We use Turbo Active for new and exchange turbos. They're pretty resonable and we never have any problems. If you want I can hopefully see about a price for you if you let me know your requirements.
