Constella Gear Shift Stick

Recommended Posts

stebbs

I'm thinking of installing one. My only problem is it says it reduces throw by up to 50% and I already have a rod kit on my car.

Has anyone got one on or used one and are they any good. I've dealt with Rob before he's spot on and his stuff I've seen has been top notch.

Thanks in advance, Tom

A rod kit doesn't change the amount of throw unless you also have a shortened / modified quadrant on the subframe.

If you have this already then you will have to swap back because I found the two won't work together depending on how the quadrant has been modified.

Well my rods are adjustable so should be able to get the throw. Just didn't want a syncro eating setup.

Thanks guys

I don't have the l bracket on the subframe modified. Just the gear linkage kit with the clips. Tom

Just to clarify, are you talking about the three gear linkages or the actual gear stick that Constella sell?

As Graham said the rods don't adjsut the throw length, you need either a new L bracket or the gear rod which has the linkage point further forward than standard, thus shortening the throw.

I have the constella kit on my car with as far as i know standard rods. Feels nice changing gears, but i've never driven a the standard stick so i can't say how much difference there is. Apart from anything the brushed aluminium knob feels nice!

I have the standard l bracket and I'm on aftermarket gear rods, I'm just asking if the ConStella stick is any good. And wouldn't make the throw too short as I already have the 3 rods.

So from your comments tri_longer the constella will be fine as my aftermarket rods won't be shorter.

thanks

Aftermarket rods should be sold set to the standard rod length, only reason to adjust them is to change the position of the gearstick in the car.

The Constella gearstick shortens the throw in all directions in the same way as Miles stick do, by lengthening the stick below the pivot point & they don't change the gearbox side of the selection but just the stick movement in the car so no synchro'as will be rushed any different to standard afaik.

Baz

I've had a few and have one now, somewhere.

They're ok, but not a massive fan of them, since changing the design they're better, the old ones were crap and fell apart. They work as they're supposed to though, do the job, i just prefer a custom jobby.

I nearly bought one than changed my mind and just fitted Miles linkages. Whats a custom jobby, is this some thing you could supply Baz?
