Dash Lights And Rev Counter

Recommended Posts

backroadpug

Hi all I have just fitted my re built MI to my gti runs sweet as a nut but have a few problems at the dash?

Rev counter, stop light, oil warning and dash lights dont seem to work?

removed the clocks to check connections all seems good. so started to check lives and earths.

Have came to the conclusion its an earthing problem

Main earth to the cluster wire M3 has a constant earth. ok

Earth for the rev counter wire M323 has nothing at all if I supply my own earth rev counter works?

Earth for the dash illumination wire M25 is earthed with the IGN of as soon as IGN on turns live? if I change it to an earth lights work?

the car has sat for 7 years but everything worked before. Ive also cleaned up the earth points under the bonnet and replaced all the fuses.

Any ideas?

cheers Richard

hi cheers for the reply. All the fuses are ok I replaced them all to be on the safe side.

It seems to be some thing to do with the earths?

I could just wire up the earths up to wire m3 then they would work but Id rather have everything working the correct way.
