405 Remote Key Fob

Iv got a late phase 2 with a rf module in the roof. Would a phase 2 405 single button key fob work with the car. Iv never seen a 205 key fob. And I don't know if there are any differences in the system.

The fobs can't be reprogrammed like they can on newer cars. They're hardwired to work with one specific receiver only. So you'd need to find a matching fob and receiver.

 

You're best off buying a cheap aftermarket kit anyway as the 205 remote locking is infra-red rather than RF, so the range is terrible and it doesn't work very well in bright sunlight.

A 405 single-button central locking system is a straight swap into a Phase 2 205 as I've just done it - however, as said, you need both the matching fob and receiver as they cannot (that I'm aware of) be reprogrammed.

I have never had problems with the infra red 405 system in sunlight. mine works from about 3 metres away at the furthest point.. Haha.

Don't see why you need to open your car from 50 metres away.

 

If you want, I'll have a look in my local scrappy for a 405 system?
