Relay Id Needed

Recommended Posts

...well, I guess its a relay, it is certainly electric and is mounted in engine bay above/behind right (if you stand in front of a car) headlight-it is made of aluminium, raw, no paint or anodizing and cca. 20 mm diameter, has a brown plug from below,2 or 3 wires I'm not sure cause I'm not near the car (1.9 GTI motronic).

cheers,

kk

is it round? if so i would think it is the resistor for the headlights, you should have one similar on the n/s srtut topmount, i believe this one is for the cooling fan

yes, very round...well, today I took a look under a bonnet after 30km long drive, and the thing was sizzling hot, actually your answer got me puzzled,as my lights were not on...what could it be now?

smithy

It will be the resistor for cooling fan half speed, normally clipped to top of rad on right hand side if memory serves me correctly.no longer fitted to mine as single speed only.

I think the dim/dip resistor is behind headlamp and not visible when headlamp is in place.
