Noisey 205 Rev Counter

Recommended Posts

Hi. My 1992 pug 1.9 Cti has an annoying problem. I also had a Roland Garros that used to have the same problem. So I’m sure some one on here must have solved it.

The rev counter appears to spool up with the revs. Basically the higher the revs the louder the spinning sound from behind the dash. It’s so loud now I can hear it over the engine and exhaust.

I’m going to take the dash apart to look at it. Might just need a spray with some silicon. But before I did this does anyone now any other possible fix’s? Or is a replacement rev counter/unit needed?

Cheers Lewis

The rev counter is electronic so it shouldn't be making any noise

Strange. I might unplug it to see if that solves the problem. Then if so replace it with another one.

I had a similar problems but it was the odometer numbers sticking. Would make an awful whiring noise before a clicking noise as it was trying to turn over.

I took the arm out from behind the clock numbers which turns it over and problem solved.

Odometer doesn't work now.

Try a new set of clocks and a speedo cable?
