Footman James Classic Car Insurance

Got my renewal through for my car insurance from Footman James. £315 for the year. Thought that was pretty good, although once the work is done on it, ie full respray, new front end, new suspension and springs, I think I want to get an agreed value sorted out with the insurance company incase anything happens. They came back with £340 for the year with an agreed value of £4000.

Anyone had any experience with agreed values? They said I need to send off 2 photos signed by a car valuer. Anyone know who could do that for me? Where I would go to get that done? Or is there any point getting any agreed value in the first place?

Cheers,

Gav

I'm with need2insure and find they are very good at persuading the main insurer to give a high agreed value with premiums being low.

i have my 205 insured for £3000 agreed through footman james. when i did mine they sent me some forms staing all mod's etc and i had to include 5 decent photos showing the car from all angles. i sent it off and they returned all the photos back to me saying they were happy to cover it for 3k. i didnt have to get anyone to sign anything, the only thing that springs to mind is if your 205 is over 25 years old then it has to be a club or similar to value the car.

My last 205 was agreed with HIC (£3600), needless to say I got the full amount from them with no quibbling and bought the salvage back for £400!
