What Is My 205 Worth?

Recommended Posts

mattw

Hi all,

Just thinking about what my 205 might be worth and wondered if some of you might be able to help me.....

Spec:

1987 1.9 GTI Silver

SPAX Coilovers

Braided Brake Hoses

Carbon Lorrene Brake Pads

Upper Strut Brace

K&N Induction

S/S Exhaust

Full Roll Cage

Stripped interior with OMP Seats and Harnesses

Plumbed in fire extinguisher

I think that's about it. It has done 2 track days since I have owned it (2007) and only 2 prior to that Mileage on the clocks states about 96,000 but I have nothing to verify that.

Bad bits - No history until my ownership (although I bought it off a friend)

Rust at the front of both rear arches

Agreed with the above, they are not selling.

It does also depend on the state of the sills and bodywork in general being a s though its an E reg.

I'd say between 1k and 1500k depending on how fast you want it sold.

That sounds good. The sills and bodywork are in pretty good condition.

I'm half thinking of selling it and buying a Porsche 944 (or saving up and keeping both!)

I wonder why they aren't selling?

Pugs in Pieces

if it was all original i should expect it would be worth quite a bit more. looks in good condition, early phase ones are much more desirable now.

Not sure why you would want a 944 over a 205gti i have had both a 944s2 and the 205 and the 205 i think was a much better car also the bills on a 944 can be very big especially if its got rust sills can rust through and they are triple skinned and cost around 700 quid a side to sort the bottom of the front wings rust out also the cars come with electrical gremlins clocks very rarely work as with sunroofs also engines need care.I fyou get a good well cared for one thought they a a good investment especially in s2 or turbo guise :).A 205gti is a lot nimbler and better for those short blasts also i think looks a lot nicer.

Thats why I want both! I think the 944 is a future classic and prices now are about as low as they can get.

Might get the 205 MOT'd, however I got an insurance quote of £580 from HIC on a classic policy which I thought was pretty high.
