Snapped Key In Ignition

Ive gone and snapped my key while in ignition.. its in the off position!

 

How do i remove the barrel even though its in off position?

 

Bray the pins?

you may have to remove the steering coloumn. Not as difficult as it sounds though. Remove all the plastic surrounding it, and you should see for yourself.

since the key is in the barell, can you not persuade it to the on position with some needle nose's or something?

put the rest of the key in and turn it to the position where you can remove the barrel from the column, no need t oremove the column.

 

should be able to get the remains out by dismantling the barrel further :)

or a decent size screwdriver as i would think the key is snapped flush with barrel.

doubtful, they usually snap half way down!

Get some soft wood (seriously) and superglue it to the part of the key that you have, pressing down hard so the metal squashes and fits the shape of the snapped part. Then when its stuck, put some more super glue on the top and push it into the barrel and onto the part of the key thats still in there and again press on hard so the wood takes the shape of the snapped part. Now let it dry and pull out, simples!

 

No need to go removing cowls or barrels!

Okay its snapped flush.. so i cant turn it or pull it.. i have had a screwdriver in nothing happens.. it wont turn or come out i just need the barrel out .
