206 Gti 180 / Cup Car

Recommended Posts

This may have been discussed before, although keep getting a fault on the search function!

Basically looking for anyone with any knowledge/ experience with the 206 cup cars or GTI 180.

Thinking of changing my 205 road rally car for one, heard I can put my BE3 internals in to the BE4 casing, prehaps get my Bilstein B6 fronts to fit the 180 and going to speak to proflex to see if they can convert my 205 rear shocks to fit the 206

Also looking at a 206 cup car full spec shell with the pug sport suspension and alcon brakes, but with no engine - would a GTI180 engine drop straight in? Dont mind having to piss about with looms etc.

Also hearing contrasting opinions on whether the block is ally on the EW10Js?

Thanks for any help!

The cup cars are based on XS's, 1.6 16v's with around 160hp iirc, they had a PTS designed inlet plenum with single large TB, Alcon 4pots with 292mm discs, a 6speed box with ZF diff etc. Fairly capable in the right hands.

I think on the Peugeot Sport Club site they have all the info on them (www.psooc.com) as they used to be the club that hosted the 206 Cup. If not, then I probably have the data in a box in the loft and need to scan it in! I know I have all the official videos from around that time on VHS. Boardmans (Special Tuning UK) provided all the parts for the cars.

Guy Robinson in the Matlock Motor Club used to run one in the VK Road Rallys and other Derbyshire events. It sounded awesome!

Strangely a friend of mine, Malcolm Wise (Ford Saloons/DMN etc) was using one on a Sprint i did a few weeks ago.

Thanks guys, seen a few of the cup cars around and familiar with the spec, and the pricey bits!

I'll have a look at psooc.com and see if theres much on the 180's etc.
