Recommended Posts

Anybody know what the torque setting is for the head bolts on a 406 turbo engine, XU10J2cte?

Just did a head gasket on mine and I was told it is, 35nm working from centre out. Then 75nm centre out then 180 degree turn working inside out again. Done 500 miles on these settings and all seems fine. Hope this helps.

Collin is the owner of Pugperformance and has build many of these engines.

its just an 8v XU10 with a turbo bolted on, or get a manual that does cover it...

Yeah but surely a turbo charged engine is under more strain than a n/a one?

not these ones, they're lazy low compression constant torque things, less power than a gti6 engine

by the way, Autodata says 35 Nm, 70 Nm then 160 deg, any garage worth its salt could have told you that ;)

Same as the non turbo engine, seeing as its the same head, block and head bolts.

Gti-6 engines dont go wooosh though!! :)

I didnt realise so many parts were the same, i have a haynes manual that covers 1.6,1.8,2.0 engines, so i may aswell just follow that?

Or could i just follow a 205 manual?

Dave u have twice been told the torque settings now by myself and welsh. Why would u follow a 205 manual when u have an xu10 406/xantia engine? :s
