Should Elec Window Switch Illuminate?

Hi,on my H reg 1.9 pug should the elec window switches illiuminate when side/headlamps turned on???

No, but as far as I know the switches out of a 405 (exectutive or something similar) should be illuminated and of the same style as the ones in the 205

most 405 switches are illuminated have fitted them to 205s on a few occasions now. dont think any 205 came with them......

The early ones will be a straight swap I think. The later ones seemed to be a slightly different fit from what I found at the scrap yard. I got mine out of a J reg 405 and they were exactly the same. The part that illuminates is simply a bulb in a yellow holder that actually could be removed and fitted straight into my 205 switch. New bulbs can be bought from Maplin for about £1.50 if need be.

Have you got a comparison picture of both? I don't understand where a bulb goes on a 405 switch. Had a look in the scrappy today at 405 ones and they look identical..

i have a couple of 405 switches the main body is the same as a 205 but the toggle part is smaller defo no illumination.

Take the "top" of the switch off the main bit - just unclips - you should see the yellow bulb holders inside, no doubt with blown bulbs.
