Decat'd

Hi folks, I just noticed my 1.9 k plate gti has been decat'd and was wondering will this make the car faster or just cause problems ie running lean?

it still has the oxygen sensor fitted and the management light isn't on, so i don't know if its been chipped or what?

is there any way to check this?

thanks all

It is meant to allow it to release more power as the restrictive cat isn't there. The cat comes after the oxygen sensor so should make little difference to the mixture control and is there to reduce emissions. Some K plates came without the Cat anyway, thought not 100% if the oxygen sensor and cat only came as a pair, though I think they did.

Yes, only Motronic 1.3 used on CAT equipped 205 GTi's has a lambda sensor (in the UK atleast - I think other countries got LU-2 Jetronic like on 1.9 CTi's etc)

K-plate non-CAT cars were exactly the same as other non-CAT GTi's and used LE-2 Jetronic. They're just cars made before the CAT cutoff that were registered late.

Cheers for the reply guys, if its getting more power without might just look into getting a 4 branch and system.
