307 Hdi 136 Rear Brake Disks

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I need to replace the rear disks on my 307 HDI quicksilver. when i go to the brakeparts online catalogue or Service box it offers me the choice of either built in hub (no bearings/abs) or built in hub (bearing and abs ring).

My question to you all is can i change over the bearing and abs ring at home on the drive with basic tools? or would this require heating etc?

If so clearly i will have to buy the the bearing and ring ones and prepare in advance next time?

Any advice is greatly appreciated as i can't afford stealer prices at the moment.

Thanks

Roddie

IIRC the integral bearing type just slid off once the hub hut was removed, the ABS ring was prised off carefully and fitted to the new hub, if you insert the vin into servicebox it should afaik tell you which type you need, if not it'll tell you an RP number for a crossover date (RP number will be on the car somewhere)

OK so disks and pads on the way am i right that the hub nut is 36mm and torques to 210Nm and i need a T50 torx socket as well?

Unbelievably i had to go and check the calipers before i could order the pads, as peugeot do not know if they fitted bosch of lucas calipers to which 307!!!!!!!!!!!

Keep you fingers crossed for me at the weekend please as this is my first attempt at brakes, any advice greatly appreciated

If you had used servicebox and stuck your chassis number in then it should have told you the exact pads. I'm guessing you have not bought genuine disks and pads as Peugeot parts depts can't breathe without a chassis number.

I Did use service box and rang peugeot with chassis number the answer was "all 307's can have either Bosch or Lucas pads i just depends which calipers were available when the car was being built"!!!!! and thats from a main stealer, also tried a few after market places ended up with a set of oem from brakes international.

Peugeot wanted £50 just for the rear pads!!!! or £60 if it was Bosch. I popped the wheel off in the end and found the remains of a lable and checked the spring position!!!
