Bhp Figure

hi, feel like an idiot for asking but i just cant find what im looking for on google or on here, the search doesnt seem to be working..

ive took my car for a RR at motorscope a while back and they got 122bhp out of it, even though my cylinder head had problems and my exhaust gaskets were the wrong way around..

ive sorted those problems and took it for another RR at pd tuning, but they only made 120bhp even tho the car feels much better, faster..

its only a 1.9 8v standard apart from twin 45s but i'd expect a bit more than 120bhp.. what do you guys make of it ?

Either their rolling road has got less acurate or there is now something else not quite right inside the engine

i should be expecting around 140 right ? i'll have to take it back to the last place, motorscope

they did say to advance the timing but i cant really tell much of a difference

About that yes, my old MI with carbs made about 15-20 more BHP and a fair amount of torque, made a big difference after it was sorted. I did also have them serviced when they did the tune up and RR.

On the rollers you should only really ever look at the wheel power figure, as the estimated fly figure is just that. Also there's no point comparing before and after figures on different rollers because they all read differently for some reason or another.

only thing i can say is take it to the same rr every time, also what rollers did motoscope have at the time, the old 2wd one or their new 4wd destek one??

they used their new 4x4 one i think but was asked to leave and wait while they RRed it.. annoying..

ive done a few more searching around and i think its my ignition timing, i havent got the vacuum advance connected with these carbs not that it works anyway after checking it.. ive advanced the timing by around 10 degrees and i think it feels much faster. pd tuning should have sorted that, ooh well..

at some point im gonna set it up with a timing light and set it all up properly with a working dizzy

a vac advance wont make/loose power, just make it more drivable on light throttle. If playing with the timing makes it quicker, and if doesnt 'pink', then its a move in the right direction i guess.

Dont look to much into BHP numbers, the ambient temp, tyres/type of RR can apparently make a differance.
