Bravo Speedo

Completely unrelated I know, my missus has a W reg 2000 fiat bravo and the speedo has started with an intermittent fault. All the other dials work fine. When she drives, sometimes it is fine then other times it starts working but seems to be on and off. Any ideas?

My neighbours have one of these, after I changed the clutch the speedo crapped out, it was the sensor on the back of the gearbox, and obviously it did not like being disturbed. I got a new one from an ebay breaker for £12 or something like that.
