Central Locking Remote

Recommended Posts

Hi,

My first post here, glad to finally become a member.

Looking to fit remote central locking to my 1987 P 1.5 205 GTi 1.6. As far as I can see, the 205 does not utilize a conventional "negative" system for central locking, but a slave cylinder of some sort.

As such, the £ 50 remote fob system I have bought says nothing about this. I'm pretty much a car electronics idiot and I'm not sure where to look for the wires I need.

Thanks in advance!

On the earlier Phase 1/1.5 central locking (upto late 1990), the easiest way to do it is to run a slave motor in the drivers door to move the lock pin up and down (and thus activating the existing central locking for the passenger door and boot)

Phase 2 (1991 onwards) central locking works differently because it had remote locking from the factory, and on that it's easy to just tap onto the back of the central locking control module (which the earlier cars don't have) and activate that using a simple negative pulse output that most alarms and remote locking kits support.
