Phase 2 Gti 1.6 Cuts Out At Idle

My friend has a phase2 1.6 which he has just bought that cuts out idling after about 20 seconds, has had all new filters,plugs leads etc.Any ideas as to why this might happen?

Does it idle well and then just suddenly cut dead, or does it start hunting or spluttering before finally cutting out?

 

Does it run and drive fine off-idle?

 

Normally idle related issues are just down to general setup (which GTi's are very sensitive to) and underlying issues like airleaks.

It idles fine then just cuts out. If you give it some revs it stays running and drives o.k.
