Springs And Dampers, What To Go For?

Recommended Posts

Can anyone recommend a suspension setup for the 205 gti????

I was looking in demon tweeks earlier and they do a german brand (AP i think?) coilover kit which was around £360.00. considering its german it should be good?!!

has anyone ever tried this or what setup to go for reasonably priced

Depends massively on your budget, and on the cars use.

As WP says, it is important to have an objective or aim of the upgrade and you could throw as much money as you like at it. I think the general consensus is unless you spend a lot more than that on coilovers they will be awful.

do the wishbones, arb bushes, strut/beam mounts as well.

For road use I would stick to normal dampers unless you want to maintain the coil overs, Anything under £800.00 in the coil over world is poor in my book so as with anything you get what you pay for.

totally agree with this, always start by making every component spot on first, i.e condition of beam, beam mounts, strut mounts, wishbones, arb bushes, drop links etc. only once all this is good should you think about uprated components, and as always you get what you pay for it all depends on how you intend to use the car

Yeah, im doing all bushes and joints etc.

I will probably go for a normal uprated setup as its only for road use.
