Where Can I Find Soild 205 Wishbone Bushes?

Recommended Posts

No Guts No Glory

Seams my Twin eats more wishbone bushes than tyres that the moment, which is not supprising when the wishbones are 2 inch wider,

So does anyone know where i can buy some from or know anyone with a lathe who would like to make me some?

Polyflex type I doubt would last for much longer, so the only other option would be either nylon or brass so that a stainless steel insert can rotate freely and give less stiction

For what I have experienced with custom made nylon bushes, they last even shorter than Powerflex.

Members here will suggest you to switch back to stock bushes as they last longer, I switched back to stock already.

I have split the stock bushes already they were brand new wishbones, never saw the road. I would never expect them to last either, never mind Ployflex they split too from my own experience, nylon however is a very different compound again depending on its grade, I can only see these getting "squeezed out like toothpaste" or simply shatter to bits. So I have been talking to a few companies and for a Promotion deal I'm willing to try another type of bush at the grade 90 shore, not 80 as most.

The only other option after this would be alloy bush with an oil-lite brass flange bearing pushed in each end and also replacing with high tensile bolts

I know it's a lot of work but have you considered redesigning the front end to run 406 wishbones? Given the spec of the car, it's not as drastic a solution as it might sound. I'm not 100% sure but I think DrSarty used 406 bones on his EVO II project, so if you hunt out his build diary in the project's section it might give you some ideas (although I'm sure you could figure out a solution yourself ;) ).

306 it was GLPoo :)

For those Rich Walker (who works with Lynx Engineering the guys that do the Rotrex Superchargers for the gti6 engines) do roller bearing Metal Inner bearings, whihc sounds like they'll be just the ticket if a 306 wishbone can be utilised, or the design adapted for a 205 using a spherical bearing/rose joint.

^^^^ Thanks I was just reading his thread lol saved sometime there

It would be far simplier just to machine bushes, than going the 306 route.

Otherwise I would just water cut some flat steel and make totally new wish bones with roase joints as par Compbrakes.

I think I answered my own question, JohnnyP can I use your lathe??? lol

Will keep you guys update once I've sorted something

Thanks

Yeah, I just had a trawl back, and - sodding typical, it's right in the middle of 40+ pages  - it's 306 bones and 406 hubs on his.

With all due respect, are there any other factors in your setup that could be causing the premature failure? You're running standard spec V6 engines, yes? Yet there are other 205s running V6 engines and I don't think they have had such significant problems in this respect, and there are plenty running significantly more torque (by which I mean the many turbocharged and supercharged examples). If it was a common issue it would have been discussed more on here but I don't remember there being much discussion about this (and I read the forum habitually  ).

Although - sudden brain tingle - Tesstuff was telling me back in Nov that he'd had suspension and drivetrain issues with his V6 Gentry. It was killing a lot of stuff. The forum member who did the conversion (Pete somebody. SorrentoPete maybe  ) was working on some suspension modifications to overcome this.

EDIT: just ignore me. I forgot you said your wishbones are 2" longer than standard.

EDIT 2: I don't think it was SorrentoPete actually. Best off getting straight from the horses mouth if it's something you wanted to follow up on.

The bushes used on radicals (in the above link) are very similar to 205 ones, havn't got any new ones to hand to measure up but they take a 7/16 unf bolt through the centre and easily take the power. I guess giving them a call would give you the dimensions or even who makes them.
