Mate doin a superb job!

I'm aiming to do the bumpers on mine when we have a few dry days. What paint did you use on the bumpers? Did you bother with primer though?

dont want to be nick picking but shouldnt the top hose from the expation bottle go to the top of the rad? yours looks like its resting on the engine. also your only using one of the PAS mounts, just bend the other one back to the slam pannel and jobs a goden.

your doing a great job on this, keep it up

thanks :D

the one on the left of the expansion bottle goes to the top of the rad and the right one goes to the bottom of the throttle body but the previous owner has bypassed it to the top of the thermostat as the fixing on the bottom of the throttle body has snapped off, doesn't really matter as its only for cold starting so shouldn't affect the running:)

the tab for the slam panel has been severely bent out of shape so im going to have to try and get it to fit, looks like someone has stood on it and it got flattened lol :)

well today was eventful, first i had to help my brother with his cambelt then when i went to my car for tools i saw that the passengers mat was wet, so i lifted it up and

8xlgfn.jpg

oh dear :(

so after pouring a bucket of water over the car a substantial amount of water came from the sunroof so i peeled back the headlining and

200p551.jpg

5xn3bk.jpg

its was missing the drain pipes from both sides :o so water was draining into the headlining and onto the carpet :(

so a bit of garden hose and a jubilee on both sides later

10mtyeu.jpg

all fixed :D

ix7foi.jpg

2v1q9nm.jpg

2zhh6pe.jpg

looking much better in my opinion :)

then decided to try and get the engine sorted, finally got it running again(dodgy earth) and took a picture of the smoke (started clearing when i took the picture but it smells like pure fuel :( )

91mk2u.jpg

started mesing about with all of the screws and found out that the AFM had been messed with :( so did a little tweeking and the engine started to run better :) then it ran out of petrol:lol: typical lol

will get some more petrol tommorow and hopefully get it running proper :D

set the timing today as it was slightly off and i really thought it would help it run better but sadly it hasn't :( i have a new theory now which is its either the AFM or something ignition related, but i tried unplugging the AFM and it didn't make it run any worse or any better so i think its gone :(

anyway here's a look under the rocker cover

15x0cgw.jpg

and the smoke when running :(

decided to strip and clean the throttle body today :)

5x7442.jpg

pipes and AFM out of the way

2i0sm4n.jpg

bolts undone and throttle body off and look what was inside:doublesho

seog8o.jpg

25t98g4.jpg

a mixture of petrol and dirt/oil :wall:

also this is the snapped bit but its only used for heating the throttle body on a cold day so its been bypassed :)

e803t2.jpg

and cleaned

21et8w0.jpg

2daknwj.jpg

and in the plenum

339o7j6.jpg

and all back together :D

n1w37n.jpg

az9v7s.jpg

not tried starting it yet though i shouldn't imagine it would make much difference but at least now i know its clean :D

and then decided to move on to the steering rack, its developed a serious problem which is if you turn the steering wheel the wheels don't turn :( and the rack makes a noise like cogs grinding :doublesho

so after some investigation its either the universal joint or its the rack itself which i don't really fancy changing as 1 its hard to get to and 2 its a power steering model which is very rare to find :(

so to investigate i decided to take the rack off so...

2nrfyvo.jpg

cowling off and some more dodgy wiring :(, going to strip the dash out and replace all the dodgy wires soon :)

3505to6.jpg

14o4nrc.jpg

steering wheel off and the 4 bolts that hold the rack on undone

6ihg5x.jpg

just got to undo the two star bolts tommorow that hold the bottom of it on and it should just pull out :)
