Need Light Power Steering

Hi guys entering car in few events here where i need very light powersteering. My 205 has power steering but too heavy any options besides major work like corsa cloumn

I am not sure if it will work, but you could try a smaller pulley on the Pump?? - not sure if they are regulated though...

106/saxo Electric system would probably do you. :) Wheel and tyre size will affect the 'weight' of your steering.

How much lighter is standard pas compared with manual steering?

True about wheel size,mine went lighter when I took the 15's off and put 14's on.

Standard PAS is lighter than a manual rack. Most noticeable when parking etc, when driving normally it's not much different IMO.

I prefer PAS on my GTi. :)

Good idea but sadly not, as there is a relief valve in the pump which regulates the pressure. To make it lighter you would need to alter this relief valve to a higher pressure.

Google' mk2mania' for corsa electric power steering conversions,tells you a bit on the website.Sells quite a few to people who rally.Just an option incase you can't find anything else.

Cheap option is to get a larger diameter steering wheel, narrower tyres and make sure your top mounts are in tip top condition.

In agreement with the 106/saxo electric pump conversion.

 

I'm running this, and my front track is considerably wider than standard and this still works nicely.
