My 205 Dimma On The Rollers.

Recommended Posts

No Guts No Glory

Here is a quick video of my 205 on Mikeanics rollers, I am very impressed with the mapping when it ran the rollers in 3rd gear at tick over @ 750 rpm

Front engine made 224 bhp @ 6349 rpm and 213 lb/ft @ 4693

Fear engine (altinator) made 221 bhp @ 6367 rpm and 197 lb/ft @ 4988

Be nice to see what it makes at rolling road day at prosport on the 21st May

Thanks to those speacil peeps on here for their support and help over the years!

Good effort martin. I look forward to seeing this in the flesh. Hopefully you are bringing it to Pugfest to run up the hill :)

Looks like a very nicely put together car. I like it. Have you had it on corner weights per chance? Curious to see how the two engines affect the balance of the thing. Is it just going to be used for shows or is it being dragged/tracked etc?

Henry, I’m struggling to even get the chance to drive it atm, being a competition car its stuck in the garage gathering dust as per norm, I was going to buy a trailer and tow bar for my 406 v6 coupe but it seams far more expensive and 4 times the fuss than if I was to simply buy a car transport/recovery truck, also my licence is 2 months off were the law changed about using a trailer, therefore I would have to do a trailers licence too, so its just a case of saving up to buy a transporter or finding someone with a trailer (again) The car is ready to drive/test and very tempting to simply jump in and take it up the road,

Thanks 24/7, No sadly she’s hasn’t had any sort of weight orientated set up yet, Like above I‘m pretty much stuck, Car was built for fun! Wasn’t until I built a serious track car for a customer/mate I decided what the hell, I didn’t have 6k to spend on a engine which still would only be fwd and adding extra weight when using an iron block MI, So I bought a v6 for £350 and went about fitting it in the back, which at the time was estimated at costing £1500 but it didn’t stop there. 7k on and this is what I ended up with.

Baz, If only you knew what its like to say to people at track days what car you have, you learn not to open your mouth and so not look like a T*&T, Its rather embarrassing saying about owing a 6ltr v12 205 gti, Plus I’m sick of the way It puts me across to people over the net as in a know it all, has coursed me lots of issues with the likes of some people and companies I have dealt with over the years. If anything I wish/hope I can just get on and use it without to much fuss. I only intended to add Video to be able to say thanks to the guys on here for the much appreciated help and support, oh and ok a bit of “piss on chips” who ever doubted me.

Don’t forget guys, She isn’t just twin engined! Pretty much unlimited with what I can do with her now, removing the engine in the front for Serious competition and also the tuning potentional of 1000bhp with both

Passenger rides to those who helped!

THat really does look awesome B)

I'd seen the previous progress videos some time ago. Quite a shame that it had to disappear from the forum so we couldn't follow the progress, but I guess you had your reasons.

This comment on Youtube made me laugh

can you use both engines at the same time or is one a back up for when the other brakes down?

Not sure if he's having a dig at Peugeot reliability or if he's just a bit simple

Took your time,

I'll say thankfully the engine's are a Renault design and in all the years of abusing them, not one has let me down, Even my old one is near 300k without any issues at all.

Awesome work!

would love to see some detailed photos, I presume it's on a 205 front subframe at the back?

Thanks...

I used the 406 sub frame for the rear which was much more suited as it just meant bolting it to the space frame, however at the very start I built her to be able to use a 205 sub frame as well, for any reason for which I didn’t Know at the time, however the 406 sf ended up being the right choice as this meant I could use all the other stronger 406 items such as wishbones, drive shafts, hubs, disks and callipers and became a nice upgrade when you consider the cost of 205 up rated related drive shafts, callipers etc. The sub frame was mounted so that I could lower/raise or tilt which affectively will change anti-squat/drive, caster, roll centre and engine position, I pretty much made everything I could adjustable.

Here is an excellent site were you can start pondering over how to tune your suspension with such easy tasks as adding shims or spacers. ~I currently playing with roll steer as now 406 hubs are used all round, roll steer is affected due to the lower COG, rather than raising the position of the rack, I’m simply using rose joints to be able to mount the tie rod end upside down so that roll steer become positive not negative

All the build process'es can be viewed on utube as slideshows.
