Vacuum Advance Unit 1600 Gti

I need a vacuum advance unit for a Bosch 0 237 009 086 1.6 gti it's a 1991 screw type and iv tried to get one from Autofive since janurary and keep getting fobbed off with it should be in soon. Anyone know any other sources, also need rotor cap and leads. Cheers

Try fleebay. Quite a lot turn up on there from time to time. Any motor factors should be able to order you in leads and rotor arm. Probably a lot cheaper than Autofive too.

IIRC there is a Ford Fiesta one that is meant to fit. I think Pugham knows what it is

I haven't had a 205 GTI running a dizzy for over five years but there was a topic on the PSCuk forum which mentioned using a 1600 fiesta vac unit here which I linked to through this topic.

 

As for the leads & arm etc, GSF used to sell Bosch kits for the cap & arm & last set of leads I bought were from Motaquip.

Hi i have ordered an advance unit for my 1.9 today from ces in stoke. i quoted the bocsh part number 1 237 123 091 it should be here next friday from germany?

I will wait and see.

the 1.9 is still available but i was quoted £66 plus vat from a bosch agent,is this the price you are paying?

just an update on the vac advance units i purchased from the states they are for vw/audi L4 engines fitted to old golfs,sciroccos etc bosch number 1237122447.

they cost £34 for 2 delivered and are perfect fit for the 1.6 one the critical part being arm length is the same,only difference is the vac inlet is thinner than pug one and slightly different position,a new section of vac hose sorted it out.

 

1.9 ones have a slightly longer arm so i just cut my old one part of the way down and then cut new one slightly higher and then tacked together with the mig and it works perfectly now.

 

the 1.9 is apparently still available but the 1.6 is now obsolete so the VW one is a viable alternative in my opinion.

Well it finally came on friday all shiney and new! will pop it on on sunday. it was 35 quid with the vat.
