Tom Fenton

Most common on all cars is 10x1, however I've a feeling the base model stuff uses a strange cylinder with built in compensator, and could be 12x1.

Easy way to tell, is try a M10 bolt in the hole. If it just drops straight in its 12x1, if it won't go, or will maybe screw in half a turn, its 10x1.

I have a feeling that when i swapped my base model beam for a 1.6 one i used the same brake lines so you may be wrong Tom.

Do as Tom said though to check for sure.

Can'r remember the thread size but the unions I used on both a diesel and 1.6 GTi used an 11 pipe spanner. This was on the cylinder and the joint with the flexible hose.
