Help! No Horn :(

Recommended Posts

Collier

Ok my horn randomly stopped working..

its 205 gti 1990 G reg..

The indicator stalk does click and seems like its not that thats the fault..

I wired the horn up to a fog light and the horn worked.. so its something to do with the horn wiring..

I checked the right fuse.. FUSE 8? is that correct?

How can i check the relays and which ones?

If there is a break in the loom what can i do how can i wire it up again to the stalk?

Almost certainly a bad earth, might be corroded or fallen off. Find where it is earthed to (inner winer iirc or some where completly different as this problem is fairly common and earths moved about by previous owners!!) clean it up or replace the connections. If you have access to the equipment test the postive as well and see if it is getting power.

Air horn or electric?

1.9 as standard had airhorns which the standard one fails after time

1.6 has electric which tends to work all the time.

Either way both have a relay.

Off course by this age it's all probably been changed.

Stalk can fail too, mine just has, althouygh I found by flashing the headlamps and then pressing the horn it worked!!
