Fuel Hose Clips For Coolant Hoses

Recommended Posts

feb

I am looking to replace the normal jubilee clips of the coolant hoses with fuel hose type clips like the ones below.

Where can I get them, what width and how many of each will I need?

Cheers :)

from my experiance they don't go any bigger than fuel pipe size, 3/8 pipe etc.

proper jubilee clips are fine. don't buy the cheap copies

Having seen how the normal clips can "eat into" the hose and cause weeping problems when the hoses are cold - due to what is described below - I'd rather use fuel hose type clips.

"Because of the soft nature of silicone, standard worm gear clamps (the clamps with the tiny slots you can see the hose through) should never be used. The use of this style of clamp on silicone hose creates weak spots as the silicone is squeezed through the slots. This shear is the number one cause of hose failure. This is why we recommend using T-Bolt clamps or Silicone Liner clamps. T-Bolt and Liner clamps will not jeopardize the concentricity of the seal, nor will they dig in and cut the outer cover of the silicone hose."

i have seen the clips you are after in bigger sizes than fuel hose size so definately available,i would say best place is to search online or speak to a hose supplier like pirtek etc.

I must admit though i disagree with the article on standard clamps,i work in rail industry and all the hoses are silicone and use standard clamps never known the problem described.all the hoses on engine last lifetime of the engine 500k miles but they are hard miles mainly under full power not to mention hours left idling.Would i be correct in thinking the article is from a hose supplier who also supplies alternative clamps?

probably better getting mikalor as previously mentioned if you defo want to change,i used them on my old scooby for the FMIC silicone hoses.
