Very Hot Brake Discs

Can any one advise

 

 

Its it normal that after a 10 - 15 minute run in my 205 1.9 gti my front discs are scalding hot and the rears are warm but ur able to toch them without burning yourself?

Surely that depends on how much you're using the brakes?

 

The front brakes do alot more work than the rears though, and I would expect them to be hotter.

Well im driving it normally, no excessive braking. I was expecting them to be hotter than the rears but not to that extent

Discs can get very hot. If they are not discolouring and there is no evidence of the calipers sticking or pads in constant contact with the discs then you are most likely AOK

OK next question then.

 

How freely should the front wheels spin when they are off the ground?

 

When i spin them they do approx three revolutions

I would say that is fine

 

Try aplying the brake and then seing if the wheel turns as soon as pedal is released.
