Central Locking Possible Faults

Recommended Posts

dave205

The central locking used to work intermitantly on my m-reg Dturbo and im insure why, ive tested between the fuseboard and the drivers door actuator fo cable breaks and found nothing, i have some spare actuators which worked when tested with a meter, i did plug an actuator into the drivers side, the interior light flicked as if was shorting, so removed it and now none of them work!

Any ideas anyone?

I'd second this, the connections sometimes go green and corrode! Try rubbing down with some sandpaper/emry cloth and spray abit of wd40, may do the trick!

more often than not it'll be broken wires between the door and the body, lift the door off its hinges and unbolt the check strap, unplug the door loom and pull the rubber boot from the door pillar, repair wires and re-assemble!

Ive checked all the connections and put power onto the correct cable to ensure its getting power and still nothing, i have a haynes manual but the wiring diagrams dont correspond to the wiring in the car??!!

Do all of the actuators have to plugged in to get them to work?

My central locking has started locking me in the car when im driving along, and when I pull the door pin to unlock it just locks itself straight away, any ideas on what this is?? Possibly the loose connection mentioned above, or is it just a classic case of my car loving me too much and holding me prisoner?

My remote central locking is just totally spazzed out. It randomly locks and unlocks different doors each time you press the button. It really is a lottery which door it'll open when you walk up to it.

*I appreciate this is of no use, I just needed to share it.

haha yeh i know, im guessing its a loose conection somewhere, but was wondering weather i could be pointed in a dirrection to start before i start ripping the car apart.

On a partially related topic, my alarm (factory fitted) in the engine bay has a rotten rubber wiring protector, anyone have any ideas if i can buy a replacment as it really lets the engine bay down!!!

Mine used to do the same occasionaly, i never got round to fixing mine, before i took the car off the road and broke it for spares.
