Batfink 201 Posted April 9, 2011 I'm needing some 405 spare hubs, but i've been offered some 406 hubs. Same or completely different? I'm guessing they are 5 bolt holes on the 406 and only 4 on the 405 ones for starters..
tomcolinjones 26 Posted April 9, 2011 I'm needing some 405 spare hubs, but i've been offered some 406 hubs. Same or completely different? I'm guessing they are 5 bolt holes on the 406 and only 4 on the 405 ones for starters.. My 406 had 4 bolt holes, it was a ph1 not sure if the ph2 had 5 stud fixings. hope this helps

welshpug 1,646 Posted April 9, 2011 (edited) early 405 were different though much the same overall design (BJ screwed into bottom of hub carrier), later 405 used a larger diameter BJ, 406 used the same parts totally. its the 407 that went to 5 stud, not 406. welshpug 1,646 Posted April 10, 2011 one detail I forgot, as well as the thread into the bottom of the hub being different, AFAIK the taper of the BJ into the wishbone is larger too, though I haven't had both types side by side to compare.
