Gearbox From A 1.8 16V 306

Recommended Posts

I'm currently stripping a T reg 306 XS.

I've noticed that the gearbox is very similar to my old 1.9 box, same clutch setup etc

Is it any good?

Eg ratios?

I think when I asked about it ages ago the verdict was its pretty unexciting as gearbox ratios go. I binned mine.

rip the diff housing off to see what fd ratio is stamped into the crownwheel to get a slightly better idea & it'll narrow down the possibilities on service box as well, although putting the vin in should be accurate.

if the box is off you'll see a code on it somewhere, the later boxes had the code engraved or stamped on unlike the sticker on the older boxes.
