Help - Stuck In Manchester

Recommended Posts

Retro Pug

Ok so i've driven to Manchester from South Wales to show the 205 to a few of the guys I work with in the Manchester office and now I'm stuck!

The front wheels have locked and I cant get the car out of gear.... The chap from the RAC said he thinks the 'box has died. I've had it towed to a garage one of the guys in work knows and I'm expecting a call in the morning....

So I'm thowing myself in your hands I'm looking for a replacement gearbox in the Manchester (ish) area in the event of the terminal diagnosis which I'm expecting....

Any help anyone can offer would be very much amazing!

Thanks

John.

Is the clutch cable still in one piece?

Pedal in its usual place?

Was there GB oil in it?

Yeah cable and pedal where they should be, no sign of any spillage either.

I have a 1.6 BE3 you can have if it helps, but it will need your CW & diff as mine was removed when I took the Tran X out recently.

I'm on the border of Irlam if you know where that is.

luggy

Did the gearbox show any signs of dying before you broke down?

Had a similar thing happen no problem with the gearbox and wouldnt start from the key, wouldnt even turn over, had some assistance to push start it the car which wouldnt even move with clutch depressed and out of gear. Called the AA, starter gear had jammed on the flywheel somehow!

The solution was to put it in fifth and push the car backwards.:)

Good luck!
