Location Of Tachometric Relay

Recommended Posts

Minty Sauce

Hi, this is my first post so bear with me... ^_^ I have searched for tacho relay locations but they only refer to them as being next to the ECU.

My injectors are not firing and at the moment and the tacho relay or associated connections are high on the list of culprits, but it is not in the drivers foot well next to the ECU :excl: Were they every mounted anywhere else?

My car is a C reg Phase I 1.6 gti regestered in Aug '85 so fairly early I guess, did early ones have them mounted somewhere else?

Unfortunately the car died during a cross country trip and is now stuck 100 miles away from me but I will be going to see tomorrow and will try to give more details if needed.

Any advice greatly recieved!

Sorry to bump this topic back up, thought this may be useful for someone fault diagnosing in the future.

It was the tacho relay, I gave it a waggle and it started, replaced it with a new one and all is well!

Welcome to the Forum, Minty Sauce....& welcome to GTi motoring.I also had to abandon my CTi around 100 miles from home...needless to say early on in my ownership, & the longest drive I'd done in it up to that point. Yes it was the tachymetric relay. Beware...your clutch cable will break next week!
