hello,

hope you can help, i found a pair of carbs in the depths of my work shop that i forgot i had put away for spares.

there off an alfa romao flat 4 engine my brother was going to use for rallying but never got round to it so i nicked them before he bind it.

there abit dirty but i recon they'll clean up nice

woul i be able to have a manifould made to fit these to my 1360cc K2A engine

i have taken the best pictures i can but i have them with me so ask if you need to know any thing

one box on the carb says 'dellorto made in italy'

other box on the carb says 'DRLA 36'

any help would be great

rod

Got a set on my 205 1360 sprint car, but DRLA 40's.

I'll tell you now they have there problems on the TU engine as parts to tune and jet them are not all the same as webers. Mark at SRD got my car running well, with a drop in chock size, you may find that the smaller carbs work better than mine. Be aware though before you start that getting them right plus a manifold could go a long way towards injection. They were fitted when I bought the car so I worked with them, but going forward I am going to go injection to get a nicer setup than keep throwing money at the carbs.

i got a feeling there off a 1.4 alfa romao engine tho so i thought make the manifould bolt them on then give it to the rolling road guys to set them up right.

or is it more hassle than its worth?

thanks for the help

Maybe alright, but you may just find it a spirals. I don't wish to put you off, but I can tell you now that considering they were already on my car and hence I didn't have the outlay of a manifold. It has still cost a few hundred to get it to where it is now and it is no where near 100%. Mark did a fine job with ewhat he had to hand (weber jets fit), but emulsion tubes are not cheap and as I found a different set of chokes eats a far few quid. Also looks like you'll be looking at a rebuild kit as a minimum.

Take a look at Dellorto carb parts you'll soon see what I am saying in regard to the costs if you should need parts.

They are the wrong orientation, they work in the vertical plain as opposed to the usual horizontal.

More trouble than its worth IMHO

I agree, but it is working on mine and very well although not 100%. I wouldn't have gone this route though from scratch myself mind.

I hope I didn't put you off completely, but I thought I would give you the benefit of my experience and hopefully save you a load of expense to get it right.

na im looking at alot of bike carbs and ther surprisingly cheap and the manifolds dont look to complicated so i think this is the way forward tbh but dont know witch ones would suit the 1360cc best if you know of a thread saying what are the best to start of with would be great as i cant find such a thing

tony perks

GMC in scotland used to do a TU manifold to take down draughts, and it worked well too but the engine mount needs to modified to clear the side of the manifold.
