My 1.9 Failed It's Mot Today.....

Recommended Posts

Good Evening All,

My 1.9 failed it's MOT today for the following:-

1) Excessive blowing from the manifold down pipe, hence not been able to obtain a true emisions test

2) Excessive play on both front suspension arms

3) Worn brake hose flexibles

4) Poor braking performance from the Hand Brake

To carry out the welding of the manifold it will result in having to take it off.

I've been quoted £300 to do all of the above plus £40 for the test. To be fair I think it's a fair price. I think it will also be a wise move to invest in a new manifold in the up and coming months.

I only bought the car three weeks ago and I knew it would fail on something. The exhaust is worse than when I bought it.

The overall condition of the car was well worth the £975 I paid for it being an 88,000 91 H-Plate.

I should hopefully be picking her up on Friday after work, in the mean time I will slum it in my 60-Plate Audi A6.......

Cheers

I could help you out with an exhaust + manifold if you'd like? You may have to persuade me a little for the manifold though.. :P

To be fair at the moment the main aim is to get it through it's MOT which I'm sure he will do.

What I haven't got a clue on is the manifold that I got on standard or an aftermarket one. I think it's an aftermarket as it appears to be from 4 down to 1 including the downpipe.

You will have to excuse me as I'm used to modern day cars and my last one before the Audi A6 I have now was a Seat Leon Cupra MK2 which I was clued up on.

Cheers

My 1.9 has passed it's MOT today. I'm looking forward to picking it up and enjoying driving it without the worry of it requiring an MOT.

I just need to pay some debts off and enjoy our holiday in Florida in 5 weeks time, then I can think of carrying out some cosmetic improvements.

Cheers
