Fuse 1

Morning!! Have had a search through some old posts but didnt find much. Fuse 1 keeps popping so im assuming a short but any ideas of places to try? ha ha not to sure where the loom goes for this fuse, i know its does the rev counter and fuel pump as these arnt working. engine has been out and back in so im assuming its something ive done as it wasnt popping before, any help would be apprieciated.

Mine does the same. Don't think it does the fuel pump as my car still runs. Iirc, it does the clock and the rev counter, and that's about it... I think my clock has a short as I swapped mine recently. Don't know if that's any help to you!

What year is your 205?

Fuse 1 does reversing lights on all 205s, so check the wiring to the switch on top of the gearbox. Fuel pump is not supplied by fuse 1.

The 205 is h / 91. Right ok cheers will check that looks like i may have seperate issues then! i have ran the pump straight off a 12v supply and the pump runs/ car starts. looks like i may have missed a few connections! cheers for your help will check the wiring on the gearbox tonight!

What colour is your expansion tank & how many wires are there to the level sensor?

 

Someone had swapped from a black to a clear expansion tank on a friends car & when the water level was low the sensor used to blow the fuse.

 

I've attached notepad with the years & fuses listed.

brilliant cheers for that!! Thats one of the problems!! I have changed the header tank to the clear one, old connector has three cables onto it. Disconnected it and the fuse doesnt pop. Now onto the fuel pump! any ideas? thanks again
